About the library: The top shelf of books is mine. You’ll find the Winnie the Pooh collection given to me by my mother, a 1885 Bible gifted to me by a great-aunt in England in 1953 and a 1948 edition of  An Encyclopedia of World History. The other shelf is my husbands and hold some of his car and motorcycle book collection. The bookends had belonged to his father and are part of what make it special.

About the library:  My home library is in my bedroom. Luckily, it’s a good-sized room. The picture shows about a quarter of the books I own. Other fiction, some poetry, and all my non-fiction are on other shelves elsewhere in the room. Right now I have eight bookshelves, if you count the two I bought today and haven’t set up yet. I have at least 750 books, but there are a few that haven’t been catalogued yet.

About the library: Almost two years ago, I did a major purge of books in my house. At the end of it, over a thousand books found a new home and my bookcases were impeccably organized. Alas, time is a cruel mistress. Try as I might, our shelves — particularly the set in the kitchen, pictured here — can’t seem to help accumulating the random detritus of our lives. There ARE books, and plenty of ’em, behind all that crap, but you have to wade through said crap to get to them. Consider it a quest.

About the library: This is what I see when I sit down on my comfy futon in my library. The photo was taken at Christmas, which is why you see some gold and green tinsel and that renegade snowflake. As you can see, I love to collect unique cards as well as the occasional letter from the alphabet!

About the library: Though I envisage one day having a library unto itself, right now it’s embedded right into the household with the TV (and Miffy) in its midst. Which is not such a terrible thing, really, to get to look at our books all day. We have a tall shelf on reserve, currently housing photos, knick-knack paddywhacks, photo albums, and my collection of children’s books but I suspect it will be exclusively books before long. I am looking forward to moving out of our apartment and into a house, so that I can collect away with less compunction.

About the library:My husband and I bought our 90-year-old house almost two years ago. It’s got four bedrooms, and so I knew that one of the rooms would end up being ourl ibrary. As soon as I walked into this room and saw the white shelves alongthe sides of the walls, I knew that this was the perfect room for all our precious books. When I sit in this room, no matter how miserable I may be feeling, my mood instantly changes I cannot help but feel inspired and completely at peace in this magical space.

About the library: This is part of my library. I just moved into a new house and one of the first things I did was unpack my books. These books are piled up inside an armoire. I haven’t read them all, but I have read many of them.
