Brad’s Library January 22, 2008

About the library: This is about 10% of my books. I like to display nonbook items, such as an old radio, a fossil, and a bust of Mozart on the shelf with the books so that the bookshelves blend in with the room. My goal is to have a den with an old wooden desk placed in the center of the room surrounded by four walls lined  floor to ceiling with books.

About the library: This picture shows the main bookshelf we have in our house. It is in my husband’s room and consists of books in four languages. German, French, Engish and Italian. As a German living in Belgium I have always worked for American companies that is why I read in these languages. My husband is Italian and of course reads in his mother tongue too.

About the library: We moved into this house a short year ago. I know we are now “home” because we have a library 🙂 ! Our library is a large part of our daily lives. We read here, books and news papers, while drinking tea or coffee. We play games and puzzles here. Our library is our “game board room”, the closed part of the shelves to the right have board games and puzzles for the children.

The sofa used to belong to my grandmother. It was given to me when she passed away. When we first moved in here I said “this wallpaper has to be the first to go”. But turns out that it was just waiting for this sofa 😉 and all my books!

And in our bedroom we have these 2 shelves. On the bottom is my TBR list. Gives me great joy to look at it and know I have these wonders waiting for me 🙂 ! On the top shelf are my husband’s TBR books (which he has asked me to stock for him), all he has to do is reach up and grab!

Michelle’s Library December 14, 2007

Name: Michelle

Country: United States

About the library: I would probably have to take pictures of my entire apartment in order to show my entire library, but this picture shows my most number of bookshelves that are right next to each other.

Divided by genre, here you can see most of my “nonfiction,” but it’s not including antique books and anything that was purchased after November 1st. 🙂 My graphic novel collection is also there, albeit a little disorganized… And of course I’ll have to mention the turtle who finds his home underneath the philosophy and religion sections. Sonja’s Library December 9, 2007

Filed under: Serbia — Kim @ 5:05 am

Name: Sonja

Country: Serbia

About the library: This library (counting some 300 books) is not much to be proud of, at least in my opinion but then again, I live in a 20 square meter apartment and thus storage is a big problem. The books on the floor reside on different (smaller) shelves but were kind enough to pose for Your Shelves!

Country: United States

About the library: My library is 25 x 15’ and features floor to ceiling bookshelves on all walls. I own close to 2,000 books and have room for many of them in the library. (Many others are packed in boxes and stored in my home and in storage.) My mom read all the time and encouraged me to read at a young age. My grandfather took me to the library regularly and I learned to love the look, feel, scent and quiet of libraries.

About the library: I love books and I love to read since I was a kid. Reading books is always a pleasure to me. I was inspired to have a library by my grandfather and he encouraged me to read at a young age. As I am a journalist, books, newspapers and magazines always be part of my life. I have many bookshelves all over my house and my library has a diversity of themes and I love to read a wide diversity of authors. I also wrote a book about the aging process, which title is “What is Old Age”. (By Sonia de Amorim Mascaro, Editora Brasiliense, São Paulo, Brazil, 1997-2004).

About the library: I built these two freestanding oak bookshelves for our house in my garage. The shelves are quite large (5′ wide x 8.5′ tall) so it was a pretty big (and long) undertaking, but the end product made it well worth the effort.

My wife’s inspiration was the library in the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. The shelves are a little sparse right now, but we look forward to collecting more books in many years to come.

About the library: In our apartment we have an extra small bedroom, which I’ve turned into a mini-library. I have a very comfy chair in there, and I love to read there, especially with a cup of coffee on weekend mornings. I need more shelves, I have books piled all over the apartment, but this area is my most organized library area.
